So what is an interlock ignition device?

Breath alcohol interlock ignition devices, or BAIIDs, are simply a way to prevent drivers who’ve consumed alcohol from operating a motor vehicle. While it sounds simple, BAIIDs such as those we produce are highly engineered instruments that measure blood alcohol content. If the driver’s blood alcohol content is higher than a preset limit, the device prevents the car from starting. Some have other features such as interval testing to be sure that once the vehicle is in operation, additional alcohol hasn’t been consumed, pushing the driver’s blood alcohol content above safe and legal limits.

If you’re visiting this website, chances are that a court or an administrative agency, such as a department of motor vehicles, has ruled that a BAIID is needed to permit you to drive. While this may prove inconvenient at times, consider the dangerous and possibly deadly alternatives.

Okay, I’ve been ordered to have a BAIID installed. Now what?

Monitech BAIIDs can be rented monthly during the period you have been directed to employ this life-saving technology. These devices can be easily installed and maintained at a Monitech service center near you.

Your first step will be to set up an installation appointment by calling our call center at 1-800-521-4246. Our representatives will need the following information from you:

  • Driver’s License Number
  • Full Name
  • Address
  • Home, Work and Cell Numbers
  • Date of Birth
  • Lawyer’s Name (if available)
  • County of Conviction
  • State Registration Information
  • Preferred Service Center (visit Installation Centers on this website)
  • Vehicle Make, Model, Color and Year
